Research Brief: Meeting Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets in the Buildings Sector

July 4, 2019

The buildings sector is one of the highest emitting sectors of the global economy, consuming 40% of global energy demand. To lower the sector's emissions, CSHub researchers have sought to reduce the environmental footprint of concrete—a ubiquitous building material that significantly influences the sector's emissions. They found that by adopting the latest building energy codes and using more advanced concrete mixes the emissions of U.S. office buildings could decrease by 12%. Learn more in this research brief.
