With low funding and high backlogs for repair, state agencies must effectively allocate budgets for the maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction of highways. To assist this mission, CSHub has proposed a new pavement management strategy called probabilistic treatment path dependence (PTPD). Unlike the conventional benefit-cost ratio approach, this new holistic approach could consider the benefits of each possible pavement treatment and the impact of future conditions like road deterioration and prices. This, in turn, could allow agencies to efficiently improve the performances of pavement networks. Read more.
