Cement’s pollution problem lies in its formulation, but we're working to change that. By lowering the amount of pollutive calcium in cement’s molecular structure, we can dramatically decrease emissions while increasing strength. The material is in production but not yet ready for widespread use, nor tested for long-term durability. What we need now, according to CSHub Faculty Director and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Franz-Josef Ulm are "more industry partners" to advance the work.
